Our research aims to understand the physiology of heart function and coronary flow, as a basis upon which to develop clinical translational applications for cardiovascular diseases. Our major current focus is on characterising the pathophysiology of whole-heart cardiac perfusion and mechanics, and in order to address this we use a combination of image & signal processing techniques, finite element analysis, and inverse parameterisation to patient-specific clinical data. Personalised modelling pipelines are being developed to diagnose disease, add refined interpretation to the medical data and predict outcomes of interventions, in collaboration with the clinicians within the division and beyond.
